After Flint Lockwood made food fall from the sky with the FLDSMDFR, and then there were food hurricanes, now he is working at Live Corp with his hero, Chester V. But suddenly, Flint realizes that the FLDSMDFR created living food. And they are invading Swallow Falls. And Flint has to go back to Swallow Falls and shut down The FLDSMDFR before it's deadly food creatures take over the world.
Flint Lockwood is a genius who created a machine that turns water into food which went out of control. Flint would stop it. He would set out to build his own lab with Sam Sparks. But Chester V, the scientist who inspired Flint comes to the island to clean up the mess, the machine made, and offers Flint a job at his lab. Flint takes it. Later, Dr. V tells him that the machine is now creating living food and they could be a threat. So he goes back to the island along with his friends including Sam to stop it. But Sam tells flint that they could acting hastily but Dr. V convinces Flint otherwise. So they leave Flint and eventually learn the truth.
This movie is funny and has incredible animation. That being said, the story is a bit weak and contradictory. Its not great, but its watchable.
The 1st Cloudy with a chance of meatballs wasn't really good. But when they made the 2nd one they ruined the movie way worse than it already has. Please don't make a third one. It was one of the worst movies that I have ever seen. My top 3 are National Treasure 1 and 2, Labyrinth, and the Chronicles Of Narnia movies. It would have been better if it would of been less stupidity in the movie and a little more of adventure in both the movies. The only thing good about it is that you learn from your mistakes is the theme for the movie. The inventions should just be more than 1 that really like actually works only the monkey thing and the food thing works which isn't a right thing to do in the movie.
The film retains much of what worked about the first film, and it brings a similarly smart, patient, visually striking approach to the gags.
Unlike the first movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is based on an original idea by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Although the characters are based on a children's book by Judi Barrett—Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which is followed by Pickles to Pittsburgh released in 2000. The only noticeable story element between this movie and Pickles to Pittsburgh is a return to the island after the previous big food disaster. Some but not all of the food-animal's were given names during the film, some that were either heard or seen include Cheese Spider, Shrimpanzee, Hippotatoes, Melonphant, Subwhale, Banana Ostriches, Flamangos, Jelly-fish, and Tacodiles. The first movie was based on a book with the same title by Judi Barrett. The writer released two more books: Pickles to Pittsburgh in 2000 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 3: Planet of the Pies in 2013. Thus, there's a chance that Flint's story will be continued in cinematic form. Also, the director of the movie Cody Cameron has stated that they have the intention and many ideas for the third movie, and that everything would depend on the studio's decision.
